At the 2022 International Solid-State Circuits Conference (2022 ISSCC), imec, KU Leuven, and PragmatIC Semiconductor unveiled an 0.8 micron metal oxide flexible technology, claiming it is the fastest 8-bit microprocessor capable of running real-time complex assembly code. The microprocessor was implemented with a digital design flow that allowed the creation of a new standard cell library for metal-oxide thin film technologies for designing a range of loT applications. PragmatIC Semiconductor is imec’s foundry partner and its thin-film technology was used to integrate the approximately 16,000 metal-oxide thin film transistors on a 24.9mm2 flexible chip.

MicroEJ Vee container is ported to Sequans’ LTE-M/NB-IoT modules
A collaboration between IoT chip and module supplier, Sequans Communications and MicroEJ, provider of standard software containers for the IoT, has resulted in the edge container, MicroEJ Vee being ported to Sequans’ Monarch 2 platform.
Toshiba shrinks debut MOSFET gate driver; five more to come
The first MOSFET gate driver IC in a planned series of six, the TCK241G controls the gate voltage of external N-channel MOSFETs based upon the input voltage. The driver can be used in a wide range of applications including battery powered, consumer and industrial equipment, advised Toshiba Electronics Europe.
STMicroelectronics integrates AI to MEMS sensors
Signal processing and AI algorithms have been combined in MEMS (micro electromechanical systems) sensors by STMicroelectronics. The Intelligent Sensor Processing Unit (ISPU) injects local decision-making while substantially saving space and power, says the company.
