ESR (equivalent series resistance) characteristics that are usually lost when a crystal is miniaturised, are preserved, says Murata, describing the XRCED series. It is, says the company, the world’s smallest high precision crystal unit for use in mobile equipment and modules that use wireless technology such as WiFi and Bluetooth.

Silicon Labs’ Bluetooth low energy modules are stocked by Mouser
Claimed to be the smallest Bluetooth low energy SiPs available, the BGM121 and BGM123 Blue Gecko are based on Silicon Labs’ Blue Gecko wireless SoC. The SiP module with a built-in chip antenna is now available from Mouser Electronics.
SoC is Bluetooth 5-ready to double bandwidth and increase range
Bluetooth 5 is due to be officially adopted by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). It introduces up to four times the range or twice the raw data bandwidth of Bluetooth 4.2 to increase opportunities for smart home, wearables, and IoT applications.
Reference design accelerates wearable heart rate module design
An optical heart rate module reference design from Maxim Integrated can be used in the development of heart rate and blood oxygen (SpO²) monitors. The MAXREFDES117# reference design includes open-source heart-rate/SpO² algorithm for quick prototyping, now available at Seeed Studio.
