Varta announces rechargeable batteries for hearing aids

Rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries with a high-energy density and capacity will be unveiled at the Wearable Technologies Conference in San Francisco for wearables and hearables (hearing aids, over-ear headphones and wireless telephony ear buds).

The CoinPower button cells have short charging times and are robust and reliable, says Varta.

The smallest models, the CP 7840 and CP 9440, are just 4mm thick and have been developed for headphones, fitness wristbands and vehicles’ smart keys, as well as in medical equipment.

The CoinPower micro batteries have an energy density that is up to 30 per cent higher than comparable batteries available on the market, says Vara. The CoinPower series will be produced using fully automated processes in Varta Microbattery’s European production sites in Ellwangen.

Varta Microbattery is a subsidiary of Varta and produces micro batteries for hearing aid batteries and Lithium-ion batteries for other wearable products. Another subsidiary, Power&Energy, focuses on intelligent energy solutions for tailor-made battery storage systems for OEM customers as well as on the design, system integration and assembly of stationary lithium-ion energy storage systems. The Varta Group has five production and manufacturing facilities in Europe and Asia as well as sales centres in Asia, Europe and the USA. The Varta Group is active in over 75 countries worldwide.
