Mouser signs global agreement to distribute SensiBLE module and kit for IoT

Distributor Mouser Electronics has signed a global distribution agreement with SensiEdge, developer and manufacturer of the SensiBLE family of board-level Internet of Things (IoT) modules and development tools.

As part of the agreement, Mouser is stocking the SensiEdge’s low-power SensiBLE IoT edge module and accompanying SensiBLE development kit with integrated debugger, which enable designers to reduce the length of IoT prototyping cycles through the combination of the module’s embedded IoT software and hardware both provided by STMicroelectronics.

The SensiEDGE SensiBLE IoT module has a suite of sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, and a microcontroller in what is claimed to be one of the world’s tiniest system-on-board solutions. The Bluetooth- and FCC/IC-certified module is a combination of four ST Nucleo development boards. The modules contains STMicroelectronics’ STM32L476RG Arm Cortex-M4 32-bit microcontroller to run the software. The flexibility of the module offers designers and developers the opportunity to use it in a design as-is, or it can be switched for individual components once volumes increase and the design goes into full-scale production without significant rework.

The SensiBLE IoT module also features a selection of configurable hardware options targetting IoT applications, such as battery-powered sensor devices, wearables, smart appliances, medical and fitness trackers, home automation, consumer electronics, retail beacons, and asset trackers.

Configurable hardware options include a low-power module for Bluetooth 4.1, a stereo digital microphone, and 4.0Mbit of SPI flash. The board offers a variety of on-board sensors for tracking applications, including a three-axis accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer. Suitable for environmental applications, it also features a relative humidity with temperature sensor, pressure sensor, digital RGB/IR and ambient light sensor with colour detection, plus a digital microphone. Dedicated apps and a software development kit (SDK) for the iOS and Android enable communication with the SensiBLE module to begin reading sensor values; unique customer apps can also be developed.

The SensiEDGE SensiBLE IoT module is powered by a coin cell battery (which can be extended to a rechargeable battery via minimal changes), mini USB or external power. It is supported by a SensiBLE Development Kit, which features an integrated debugger, Arduino-compatible headers, and PC connectivity. SensiBLE is also fully compatible with ST’s STM32 Nucleo and X-Nucleo ecosystem for rapid development and deployment.
