Mouser stocks Bosch’s low-power digital pressure sensor for drones and AR/VR

Mouser Electronics has expanded its selection of semiconductors and electronic components, with the addition of the BMP388 digital barometric pressure sensor from Bosch. The low-power, low-nouse BMP388 sensor is claimed to have a best-in-class temperature co-efficient offset (TCO) between 20 and 65 degrees C and deliver accurate altitude measurement over a broad temperature range.

Imec designs eye tracking technology into eyeglasses for AR/VR and medical use

At the Imec Technology Forum in Antwerp (ITF Belgium 2018, 23 to 24 May), the research centre for nano-electronics has demonstrated a wireless eye-tracking technology based on electro-oculography (EOG). The ophthalmology technique is used to examine eyes and record eye movement and this technology has been integrated into a standard pair of eyeglasses, initially to improve augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experiences, although it will also be used in clinical research on neurodegenerative diseases, advises Imec.

Powercast shrinks Powerharvester wireless power receiver 

Powercast has produced a smaller Powerharvester wireless power receiver and RF-to-DC converter chip (the PCC114) for its Powerharvester chipset. The chipset is comprised of a wireless power receiver chip and complementary boost converter IC and is embedded in a device to harvest RF energy.
