Semper Nano NOR flash memory combines high density in small footprint

Designed for battery-powered, small form factor electronic devices, the Semper Nano NOR flash memory enables smaller, power-efficient industrial and consumer electronics, said Infineon.
Wearable devices such as fitness trackers, hearables, health monitors and GPS trackers, together with industrial applications such as drones are being designed with precision tracking, critical information logging, enhanced security and noise cancellation which require more memory capability in ever smaller form factors. This growing demand for more memory is met by the Semper Nano NOR flash said Infineon, combining both high density, small footprint and what is claimed to be industry-leading low power, along with robust engineering and design support.
The Semper Nano adds functionality to smart devices by offering more memory in a compact footprint while simultaneously enhancing system reliability with built-in ECC (error code correction), said Infineon.
Infineon offers the Semper Nano NOR flash in 256Mbit 1.8 V configurations and both industrial and commercial grades. It delivers 40Mbyte per second SPI throughput and achieves industry-leading stand-by and active currents. Built-in ECC enhances reliability, and a configurable sector architecture allows optimisation for code or data storage.
The family is supported by Semper Solutions Hub, a portal with building blocks required to integrate Semper Nano NOR flash into an application. The software, tools and resources simplify the overall design process, said Infineon, and bring products to market faster. A new Semper Nano Pmod-compatible memory module is available to easily assemble hardware development platforms.
Infineon Semper Nano NOR flash devices feature Infineon’s patented Mirrorbit technology, and are available in known good wafer (KGW), wafer-level chip scale package (WL-CSP) and BGA formats. Key device parameters include 256Mbit density, 1.8V operation, and SPI throughput of up to 40Mbytes per second.
The Semper Solutions Hub web portal offers easy access to software development kits (SDKs) with production-grade drivers and application code examples; hardware kits for prototyping with microcontroller system boards from Infineon and third-party suppliers. There is also support for selected integrated development environments (IDEs). Supported architectures include the Infineon PSoC™ 6 and AURIX™ TC375, Raspberry Pi, and NVIDIA® Jetson Nano™.
Availability
Semper Nano products are now available. Pmod-compatible memory modules are available now as part number EVAL-S25FS256T.
