Bluetooth communication module has built-in antenna

To address small form factors and power efficiency for communication modules to connect IoT devices to the network, ALPS offers the low-power UGMZ2AA Bluetooth SMART Communication Module with built-in antenna.

Dimensions are 4.7 × 4.7 × 2.0mm, which is achieved using RF circuit design and precision processing technologies, says the company. The module also has an originally designed antenna circuit pattern on the top. This omits the need for end product manufacturers to separately prepare an antenna.

Power consumption is low at 5.1mA (0.6microA in sleep mode), making the module ideal for devices running off a button cell or other battery, according to the company.

The module has been incorporated into the company’s Sensor Network Module IoT development kit. The kit includes a multi-functional sensor module for acquisition and transmission of motion and environmental data integrating six-axis (Geomag+Accel), pressure, temperature and humidity, and UV and ambient light sensors.
