Context-aware sensor hub CSSP matches Android 4.4 (KitKat)

For the Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, QuickLogic has released the Always-on Context Aware Sensor Hub CSSP (Customer Specific Standard Product). It has Sensor Platform’s FreeMotion sensor fusion and context awareness library which is optimised for smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices.

The KitKat OS mandates that certain sensor algorithms and tasks are offloaded from the power-hungry application processor to enable new sensor-driven use cases without compromising battery life. The low power sensor hub supports all of the mandated KitKat features, including step count and detection, significant motion detection, game and geomagnetic rotation vectors, and batched events. The processing architecture enables these features at power consumption less than 1% of a typical smartphone battery. The hub supports all commonly-used sensors in mobile devices such as accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, pressure, ambient light and proximity.
