Bourns announces new micro encoders offering high reliability in a compact design

Bourns has announced its PEC04 Series 4 mm Incremental Micro Encoder, its PEC05 Series 5 mm Incremental Micro Encoder and its Model PEC06, a 6 mm Incremental Micro Encoder. Bourns new micro encoders provide position and speed information essential for control functions in a broad variety of electronic applications.

The Bourns PEC04 Series is designed for use in today’s more compact consumer electronics such as micro headphones and smart wearable devices, and the Bourns PEC05 Series is an optimal incremental encoder for mouse wheels, smart home appliances and smart wearable devices. In addition, the Bourns Model PEC06 micro encoder is an ideal solution for smart home appliances and desk lamps, enabling designers to elevate the reliability of these next-generation intelligent devices.

The new micro encoders have an impressive IP40 rating for dust, feature a 30k, 50k and 20k rotational cycle rating respectively and a -20 °C to +70 °C operating temperature range in a rugged, compact surface mount design. These micro encoders also offer a 2-bit quadrature code output and 360-degree continuous mechanical angle. These features and capabilities make these micro encoders well-suited for space-constrained consumer electronics designs.
