Wireless power receiver uses patented technology to shrink for wearables
Using patented technology, the IDTP9026 is, says IDT, the world’s smallest 2W wireless power receiver and battery charger. Its compact package is suitable for small form factors, including wearable applications.
The level of integration and lower external component count has a size requirement of less than 30 square mm, compared to 65 square mm for other available solutions, claims the company. The chip is compliant with the Wireless Power Consortium’s (WPC-1.1) standards.
The I2C interface allows programming of the charging current, charging voltage, termination current and the thermal control loop for maximum flexibility and control. Readings back from I2C include die and battery temperature, charging current and voltage, which can be used for custom control schemes or by the system’s application and user interface.
The company recommends the IDTP9038, which is claimed to be the industry’s first Qi-compliant single-chip wireless power transmitter, supporting a 5V input.
IDTP9026 samples are currently available for select customers.
