Linux update is scalable for the IoT
At this week’s Embedded Linux Conference, in Dublin, Ireland, Wind River announced that it has released Wind River Linux 8, which brings open source flexibility and interoperability, with scalability.
The latest version of Wind River Linux reduces set-up and installation time, boasting application development starts within minutes. It uses the latest kernel and toolchain from the upcoming Yocto Project 2.0 release, Linux kernel 4.1, and GNU toolchain 5.2. It has hardware support for the latest Intel architecture, as well as ARM, MIPS, and PowerPC.
New features in Open Virtualization enable cloud services and high-performance computing capabilities to integrate a compute node to a number of frameworks or infrastructure providers.
The latest Linux kernel is used as the upstream source to ensure customers have commercially supported access to the newest advances from the open source community. Wind River Linux is part of the Wind River Helix portfolio of products enabling IoT advances.
