Silego introduces GFET3 power switches in WLCSP

Silego introduces GFET3 power switches in WLCSP: Combining its FET IP and system level protection features, the GFET3 Integrated Power Switch (IPS) offer low RDS ON.

The GFET3 IPS addresses space-constrained PCB applications, typical in fitness bands, smartphones and tablet PCs. The three new switches cover high-side power control applications from 1.0 to 4.0A.

The SLG59M1730C (33mOhm/1.0A) and the SLG59M1736C (33mOhm/2.2A) low-leakage, self-powered pFET IPSs operate from 2.5 to 5.5V and are offered in a 64mm2 (0.8 x 0.8mm form factor.  Both products offer low-threshold on/off control, fast output voltage discharge, and a controlled input current profile on start-up. The controlled 16.5mA inrush current profile on start-up prevents Li-Ion battery voltage sag when Bluetooth radios or other high current-demand operations are enabled. The controlled inrush current prevents unintended system resets from occurring.

The third introduction is the SLG59M1735C. It is designed for higher-power tablet PCs. The SLG59M1735C is a 10.5mOhm/4.0A nFET IPS. Powered from 2.5 to 5.5V supplies, the input voltage range extends down to 0.9V to accommodate 1.0V high-current rails found in FPGA, ASIC, and processor power sequencing applications, says the company. The SLG59M1735C feature set includes on/off control, soft-start control, under-voltage detection, and two-level current-limit protection. The SLG59M1735C has a 50 per cent smaller footprint (1.5 mm2) than other packaged products in Silego’s GFET3 portfolio with similar features. When compared to other 4.0A WLCSP/DFN products, the SLG59M1735C is a 14 to 32 per cent smaller footprint, says Silego.

Proprietary MOSFET design IP emables the integrated protection devices to offer what the company describes as world-class nFET and pFET low RDS ON performance. Silego’s proprietary CuFET technology allows engineers to offer small WLCSP footprints that maximise system-level performance while minimising thermal gradients in space-constrained, medium-current applications.

Silego Technology is a fabless semiconductor company creating configurable mixed-signal integrated circuits, or CMICs. The company’s CMICs integrate analogue, digital logic, mixed-signal and power functions while eliminating passive and discrete components.
