Mouser offers Sensirion’s humidity and temperature extension board: Distributor Mouser Electronics has announced that is now stocks the SHTW2 Xplained Pro Dual Humidity and Temperature Extension Board from Sensirion for Microchip’s SAMD20 Xplained Pro Board.
It features two Sensirion SHTW2 humidity and temperature sensors and acts as an intelligent circuit. Developers can incorporate on/off body detection for improved battery management, says the company.
The SHTW2 second-generation digital humidity and temperature sensor is in a tiny flip chip package and integrates a capacitive humidity sensor, a band-gap temperature sensor, analogue and digital signal processing, ADC, calibration data memory, and a digital communication interface that supports I2C fast mode.
Using two on-board SHTW2 sensors, developers can create designs which detect whether a device is worn on a person’s body to supply power. This smarter battery management corresponds to an individual user’s needs in battery-driven devices such as headphones, fitness trackers, smart medical devices, and VR headsets.
